The charming and sunny stone cottage features a peaceful location on a hillside just above the River Lot with stunning forest and mountain views. The cottage features high ceilings with exposed wood beams, stone and hand-plastered walls and pine or ceramic tile floors.
The character cottage features a beautiful hand-cut slate roof, French doors, fireplace and charming wood windows and doors. The garden is verdant with ivy, moss, grassy meadows, wildflowers and trees. The garden planters feature roses, hydrangea and lavender as well as an organic vegetable and herb garden just below the terrace.
The cottage is located in a small hamlet on a LPO Bird Refuge that offers several walking paths, hiking trails and a stream. The privately owned 10-acres are abundant with wildflowers, wild herbs, berries and apple, cherry, plum, oak, hazelnut, walnut and chestnut trees. The property is protected and there are many species of birds including owls, hawks, kites and a variety of songbirds. In addition, there are over 250 km of designated walking paths and hiking trails throughout Entraygues and its outlying areas.
The cottage is located just 30 minutes from Conques, which dates back to the 9th century and is magnificently preserved. Classified among the most beautiful villages in France and considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Conques is a pilgrims’ rest stop on the spiritual path to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, a walking path that has existed for over a 1000 years.
The living room has a wonderful inglenook fireplace with a log-burning stove, high ceilings with exposed wood beams, writing desk and comfortable furnishings. The well-appointed accommodations include a sofa bed, antiques and a flat screen TV, DVD and CD players. There is no satellite TV at this property, however, there is a selection of DVDs, CDs and books for our guests.
The large kitchen has double French doors that lead out to the terrace for easy al fresco meals. The renovated kitchen features an old-world design with solid oak cabinetry, stone countertops and a porcelain sink, as well as an antique food pantry, buffet, antique dining table and chairs. Quality appliances include retro Gorenje refrigerator/freezer, Rosiéres gas stove/oven, integrated dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle.
The stone terrace is south facing with dramatic views of the mountains, granite cliffs and the Lot River, and offers the tranquil sound of the stream and river below. There is a seating area with bistro table and chairs, sun loungers, umbrella, BBQ and outdoor shower. A wonderful spot to relax, unwind and take in the views.
The large bedroom features a vintage-style queen size iron bed, bedside tables, pretty dresser and antique armoire and chair. The adjacent bathroom is spacious and has charming old fashioned fittings including a beautiful pedestal sink and roll top bathtub with claw and ball feet. Quality linens, down pillows and down comforter are provided.
